"The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance." - Alan Watts

Before this exciting venture I had never possessed a talent for gardening. However, when the pandemic struck, many aspects of my life were turned upside down. That is when I began focusing on the things that brought me joy. My yard had become overgrown, and I discovered that uprooting the weeds and replacing them with flourishing plants and flowers was just the thing I needed. This soon evolved into an obsession. When I began to gain recognition for how lush and beautiful my yard had become, I knew I was onto something. Considering that I had dedicated the previous two decades to the creation and production of television shows, this was a terrifying endeavor. I had no formal training and did not know where to start, but I had the drive and the passion, so I had to follow my heart.

I think back to my relationship with my grandmother, with whom I shared a close bond with. She possessed a remarkable talent for gardening. I have vivid memories of her tending to her garden, while I secretly picked flowers when she wasn't looking. Unfortunately, she passed away that same year. It was difficult accepting her passing. On one occasion, I confided in my aunt that I was having a tough time. In response, she asked, "Have you tried praying to her?" which I had not. So, I started that night.

Almost immediately my garden exploded to the point where I couldn’t fit anything else in it! Just days later a journalist from Newsday contacted me, expressing interest in showcasing my yard in their upcoming spring garden edition. I believe in signs, and this was definitely one. I decided to pick up landscape designs courses and go full steam ahead turning my passion into a career. I think that’s what Grandma was trying to tell me.

For me, it’s not just a job, it’s a way for me to give you a sense of tranquility when you look into your yard.
